What gsm art card is used for visiting cards?
Visiting cards are commonly printed at the heavier end of the range, 300 gsm and upward, because the card has to stay flat in a wallet and feel substantial in the hand. Lighter card around 250 gsm is used where the job is laminated afterwards, since lamination adds stiffness of its own. What is C2S art card?
C2S means coated two sides — a mineral coating on both faces of the board. It is the standard construction for art card, and it is what lets the outside and the inside of a carton or cover print to the same standard. C1S, coated one side, leaves the reverse uncoated and is used where only one face is printed, as in chromo and self-adhesive label work.
Should I choose matt or gloss art card?
They solve different problems rather than one being superior. Gloss lifts colour saturation and photographic detail, which suits packaging and covers meant to catch the eye on a shelf. Matt cuts glare and reads as more restrained, which suits text-heavy covers and premium packaging. Matt also shows fingerprints less on dark solids, and both take lamination, foil and spot UV without difficulty.
What gsm art card is used for monocarton printing?
Monocartons in art card commonly run 250-300 gsm for small, light packs, moving to 300-350 gsm where the carton is larger or has to carry weight. The board must hold a crease without cracking at the fold, so the grammage follows box dimensions, filled weight and whether the carton is machine-erected.
