What is deep matt black paper used for?
Dense black paper is used where the black must read as genuinely black rather than dark grey — premium packaging interiors, rigid box wraps, photographic and artwork mounts, portfolio pages and luxury retail inserts. The value is in the depth and consistency of the black through the sheet, not only on the surface.
Can coloured paper be printed on?
Yes, with one caveat: the sheet colour sits under the ink, so printed colours shift against it and white cannot be achieved with standard CMYK. Dark stocks generally need foiling, screen printing or opaque white to carry light artwork. For ordinary text and line work in dark inks, coloured stock prints without difficulty.
