What gsm kraft paper is used for cartons and boxes?
For corrugated box liners, kraft in the 120-200 gsm range is typical, with heavier grades used where burst strength matters more than cost. Wrapping and void-fill applications commonly use 80-120 gsm. Because kraft is specified by burst factor as well as grammage, tell us the end use and we will match the grade rather than the number alone.
What is the difference between duplex board and kappa board?
Duplex board is a coated folding-carton board with a grey or white reverse, made to be printed, creased and folded into cartons — it is the economical choice for retail packaging. Kappa board is a dense, uncoated grey board that does not fold; it is cut and covered to build rigid boxes, book binding and mounts. Duplex bends, kappa stays rigid.
What is the difference between grey back and white back duplex board?
The difference is the reverse side. Grey back duplex leaves the underside uncoated grey and costs less, which suits cartons where only the outside is seen. White back duplex has a white reverse, so the inside of the carton also looks clean — worth the premium for premium retail, pharmaceutical and food packaging where the box is opened in front of the customer.
Is kraft paper recyclable and food safe?
Kraft paper is widely recycled and is one of the more sustainable packaging substrates, which is why it is common in eco-oriented packaging. Food contact is a separate question: it depends on the specific grade and any coating or treatment, not on kraft as a category. If the application is food contact, say so when enquiring so the right grade is quoted.
