What is the difference between art card and art paper?
The difference is weight, not surface. Both are coated on both sides and white, but art paper runs 80-170 gsm and behaves as a paper — brochures, inserts, magazine work. Art card runs 210-350 gsm and behaves as a board, holding a crease for covers, cartons and premium packaging. Above roughly 200 gsm the trade calls it card.
What is SBS board used for?
SBS (solid bleached sulphate) is a clean, rigid virgin-fibre board coated on one side, stocked here in 190-350 gsm in natural or white base. It is the standard choice for food-grade cartons, pharmaceutical packaging and premium retail boxes — anywhere purity of fibre and a consistent printing surface matter more than cost.
Which gsm should I choose for a carton?
Small, light cartons commonly run 250-300 gsm; larger or heavier cartons move to 300-350 gsm and above. The right answer depends on box dimensions, product weight and whether the carton is machine-erected.
